It's Barb here, with my very own guest design post for A Blog Named Hero! I have two, totally different cards to show you today but before I get to them, I want to thank Linda and Mary Dawn for inviting me to guest design this month! It's such an honor to be creating alongside these two talented ladies and the rest of their amazing design team!
When I was thinking about what to do for this special post, the popular trend of stamps with matching dies came to mind. Then I happened to glance over at my big basket full of punches and realized how much I've neglected them lately, by choosing to use dies instead. So out came a couple of punches. But wait! I also realized I have matching stamps that would go quite well with these punches, and thought it would be a fun idea for those of you who don't yet own any matching stamps and dies.
My first card uses two different heart punches and a Hero Arts stamp set called, XO which includes some cute heart stamps as well.
I love these pretty colors and I had fun placing the different sized hearts all over the card!
For my second card, I used a small star punch and a fun, star-background stamp from Hero Arts/BasicGrey called, Life of the Party Stars.
Since neon colors are all the rage right now, I wanted to make this card fun and bright! I inked my paper with three separate, neon colors, just like you would with Distress Inks. Before the ink dried, I purposely added a sprinkling of white embossing powder and heat embossed, then embossed the dots and stars. It created a cool, almost sprayed effect. I used the star punch to embellish the card.
So if you haven't yet gone out and bought a matching set of stamps and dies, take a look at your punches and match 'em up with a stamp or two!
Thanks again to Mary Dawn and Linda! This was such fun! :)

Barb, such GOOD advice! I have neglected my punches, yet they do go well with many of my stamps! I love your cards...especially the hearts. Your neon card is perfect...neon is all the rage right now! So glad to see you guest designing today...great job, as always!
Congratulations Barb
You have provided two very different, but delightful cards for your spot in the limelight, your first in the pastels, creates a warm, restful and friendly feel; the hearts look great.
Your second, Still has a warmth but this one opens your eyes and wakes you up, I love colour so this really appeals to me very much.
Smiles:)
Sue
